DIRECTIONS:
Begin feeding Foal 17% feed from the foal's first few weeks of life up to a minimum of 24 months. Initially, offer small quantities and refresh regularly to encourage the young foal to explore this new feed. The daily serving amount after weaning and throughout rearing should range from 1 to 3 kg of Foal 17% Liberté feed, depending on the foal’s weight, age, and forage quality in their diet.
Pre-weaning period (1 to 6 months): 1 to 2 kg per day, depending on mare’s milk production.
Post-weaning period (6 to 18 months): 1 to 3 kg per day, depending on forage quality.
These recommendations are a guideline; adjust daily portions based on the foal’s body condition score. The ideal score for foals is 4.5 on a 10-point scale. Foal 17% feed can be provided up to 3 years of age, especially when forage quality is insufficient for growing animals.
Divide the daily portion into 2 or 3 meals. Add a mineral and vitamin supplement (e.g., pelleted 6-3 or Liberty 16-10) if needed based on the amount of feed provided to meet the animal's nutritional requirements.
Provide high-quality forage for optimal intake; hay analysis is recommended to balance the diet. Provide free-access white salt block, and ensure fresh, clean water is always available. Gradual transitions: make any diet changes over approximately 10 days.
For a complete and balanced diet formulation, consult an agronomist.
